Pregnancy Guidance
-
Every pregnancy changes the shape and function of the body. The abdominal wall stretches, the pelvic floor carries more weight and the way we stand and walk adapt. Prescribed and personalized trimester-specific exercise protects the core and will give you a more comfortable pregnancy and faster postpartum recovery.
-
Birth is comparable to an athletic event. We provide you with the knowledge about how to optimize your joint positions and use your muscles correctly to decrease your risk of injury and enter the birth confidently.
-
Birth is a big event, whether cesarean or vaginal, and it changes how our muscles function. A healed scar isn’t enough to be ready for running, for example, even if you don’t have symptoms. Guided rehabilitation of the pelvic floor & abdominal muscles accelerates recovery and minimizes chances of injury. We design an exercise progression specific to your body and your goals so you get back to it with confidence.
Wellness + Optimization
-
Our bodies deserve preventive care, much like seeing our dentists or doctors for check-ups. Infrequent visits at longer intervals let us catch bad habits and give ourselves an action plan for feeling good, or catching dysfunction that may lead to symptoms down the road.
-
Strategy gets us to the next level more efficiently than pure enthusiasm. Improving athletic performance, getting past fitness plateaus, starting a new type of exercise or just feeling healthier in daily physical activities can be achieved with the right guidance. Working with a physical therapist is essential to successfully make this journey, especially if you’ve had injuries or symptoms in the past. We assess movement patterns, strength, mobility and flexibility to design a program specific to reaching your goals.

Your timeline is as unique as your life. We work with you to create a plan of care that makes sense for your life. Each visit gives you valuable tools and information to take forward.
-
It depends. Our goal is to gather the pertinent information to improve your quality of life. If the pelvic floor muscles are involved, treatment outcomes improve significantly if these muscles are examined directly. The decision to perform internal work is one we’ll make together. If you’d like to have a support person in the room, please bring someone.
-
No. In the state of Oregon, seeing a Doctor of Physical Therapy does not require a referral.
-
Come in! Seeing you when your symptoms are active can be valuable in changing their pattern.
-
Not unless it feels incapacitating. If internal work is a part of your treatment, it doesn’t have to happen during menstruation, but really, menstruation doesn’t impair internal work at all and we are equipped.
-
Yes. Babies and children are a part of the real life function of our bodies and we can work with the practical aspects of muscle retraining with them. It’s true that we may all be more distracted but it’s usually workable and often useful. The clinic is accessed by a flight of external stairs with 1 railing, so bear in mind that strollers would be impractical and think about your comfort carrying a carseat on stairs.
-
Absolutely. Feeling accompanied helps our recovery. Some people want their partners to learn techniques to support them which can be a valuable part of treatment.
